Frequently asked questions

How do I download a YouTube video?

Copy the video's link — Share → Copy link in the app, or the address bar in your browser — paste it into the field above and press Download. Every MP4 rendition YouTube publishes for that video is listed; click one and the file is saved.

Which quality will I get?

The progressive MP4 that YouTube publishes with picture and sound already combined, normally 360p and sometimes 240p or 720p. YouTube keeps higher resolutions as separate video-only and audio-only streams that have to be merged, and this tool cannot merge them, so they are not listed.

Why does a video sometimes fail?

Private, members-only, age-restricted and removed videos cannot be resolved. YouTube also asks servers to prove they are not bots from time to time; when that happens the video fails for a few minutes even though it is public. Wait a moment and try again.

Is anything stored on your server?

No. The resolver reads only the video's metadata and the address of its media file. The MP4 is streamed through the resolver to your browser as a download; nothing is written to disk or kept afterwards.
